DR. JOSHUA J. HAIRE, JR
Biographical Sketch

Pastor Joshua Haire is a native of Fayetteville, NC. He received his Bachelor's degree from A&T State University in Greensboro, NC, and his Master of Theology degree from Christian Life School of Theology in Columbus, Georgia.

Pastor Haire received his ministry roots at The Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC, a church founded by his father, Dr. Walter J. Haire, and was called to Pastor FMBC in Southern Pines, NC in March of 1990.

A family-oriented ministry is Pastor Haire’s focus who believes that when families become Christ-centered, communities become Christ-centered. He believes that evangelism, the active preaching of the gospel, should be the thrust of any ministry.

Some of Pastor Haire’s and First Missionary’s current ministry projects include:

• The Second Chance Men's Home – a halfway house for recently released inmates from Moore County and neighboring county penal systems.
• 21st Century after school program (EOG prep) for children in grades 4 through 8.
• Citizens For Change – a group of concerned citizens who promote community and evangelism through various activities and events.

Pastor Haire has served as Moderator of the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Association in central North Carolina, Vice-Moderator of Moderators of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, and was a prior member of the National Moderator's Council. He has also served as interim Presenter for the Baptist World College of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.

In addition to being awarded the International Federation for World Peace Award presented in Seoul, Korea, some other awards he has received include:

• Washington Times Foundation National Service Award,
• American Family Coalition National Parents of The Year,
• North Carolina Reading Association Literacy Award,
• North Carolina Governor's Award for Volunteerism,
• Pee Dee Association's Most Progressive Church Award, and
• The 21st Century Tutorial Grant (a four year program for the Creative Learning Center). 

   

For his tireless efforts in ministry, Pastor Haire has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Ministry degree and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree.   However, ask Pastor Haire what he considers to be his most noteworthy accomplishment and he will quickly say it is being the husband of First Lady L'Tanya Haire and being the father of twelve children, including three by spiritual covenant.   TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR THE GOOD THINGS GOD HAS DONE!
